A poster advertising the 23rd “Volta a Catalunya” (or “Vuelta Ciclista A Cataluña” in Spanish), held in 1943 and won by Julián Berrendero. Berrendero was a Republican who had spent the Spanish Civil War in France and, on his return to Spain, was incarcerated in a concentration camp for 18 months. Despite this, he went on to win two editions of the Vuelta a España in 1941 and 1942, as well as two editions of the Volta a Catalunya.
